On Judging Men and His Failures in Marriage

These two men have a lot in common. Influential. Wealthy. Charismatic. Brilliant at what they do.

Recent news reveal that they have another thing in common to add to the list: a marriage that is falling apart.

While it is almost too easy to assume and conclude what went wrong in their respective marriages, there are only 5 people who truly knew what happened and what went wrong: Tiger, Elin, Benny, Suzanne and God. Therefore, I am not qualified at all to judge them.

While infidelity and neglect are great reasons why most marriages fail today, I am in absolutely no position to decide on what kind of people they are.

While I believe that a man loses favor when he breaks his wife's heart, I have no right to decide what he is entitled to and what should be taken away from him.

I can only recall so many times where moral failure kept me apart from my God and yet received His mercy -- the unconditional kind that can only come from a Father who loves me so much and sees what I can become. I am grateful for the times I was not judged.

As far as God is concerned, Tiger Woods and Benny Hinn are my brothers. He loves them and they are His children. He is also Lord over them. They are accountable to Him, not to me.

My desire is to pray for them and their families in the most loving way. I will continue on praying that they will encounter God and the greatness of His love through this time.

"And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them." (Luke 6:31 ESV)

A Nation of Servants

There is a big chance I might ruffle a lot of feathers here. Please hear me out. I have been reading headlines everywhere about a Hong Kong writer named Chip Tsao calling the Philippines "nation of servants."

Instead of passing on judgment, I went to read the actual article that he wrote. The tone was indeed condescending.

When he summoned his helper, his tone appeared that he saw "Louisa" as someone who was beneath him. I admit that it is wrong of him to treat her that way. I think it was deplorable that he threatened to end her contract if she did not go out and tell her Filipino friends on who really owns Spratly Islands. And I think it is absolutely unacceptable at any time, to not see your brothers and sisters as equal.

My question is for all the Pinoys now is, are we mad on how he saw and treated a "helper" or is everyone more upset because of how he associated all of us with "helpers?"

Because if we are mad at the latter, then we are not any different from Chip Tsao. If this is the case, we are still so caught up with the social stratification that continues to kill the spirit of our nation. The rich become richer, the poor become poorer. And the poor continue to become slaves of the rich.

Being a helper is incredibly heroic and selfless. It takes an admirable amount of humility and strength of character to do what they do.

To be called a servant is a compliment.
