The First 47 Days

"For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong." (2 Corinthians 12:10)

Today is the 47th day of 2010. This proved to be the most difficult year of my life so far. A family member passed, my mother-in-law fell ill, the company I work for has been facing consequences of bad financial decisions and a lot of little mishaps in between.

In times like these, I discover who my true friends really are because they are so eager to help, ask how I am and ready to give comfort. And at times even the human touch is not enough, I have a Father who I can run to anytime.

My prayers have ranged from despair to confessing that I feel forgotten and to praising God that He has never left my side even in the darkest of hours. Every little feeling I had (good or bad), He knew about it.

Today, I am ready to move forward.

Today, I choose to claim His promises to me.

His presence will go with me and He will give me rest. (Exodus 33:14)

It is He who goes before me. He will be with me. He will not fail me nor forsake me. (Deuteronomy 31:8)

He is the refuge for the oppressed, stronghold in times of trouble. (Psalm 9:9-10)

He is at my right hand, and I will not be shaken. (Psalm 16:8)

He is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? He is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)

He is my hiding place. He will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. (Psalm 32:7-8)

He is my refuge and strength. An ever-present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1)

He alone is my rock and my salvation. He is my fortress. I will never be shaken. (Psalm 62:2)

I will not fear for He is with me. I will not be dismayed for He is my God. He will strengthen and help me. He will uphold me in His righteous hand. (Isaiah 41:10)

He loves me with an everlasting love. He has drawn with me loving kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3)
