Summertime

New Kids On The Block singing "Summertime" in Omaha, Nebraska concert. I play this song on my iPod and it makes me look forward to Boracay next year!

Dirty Dancing

Here is a video of New Kids On The Block singing a song from their new CD entitled "Dirty Dancing."

The song is kinda silly but I ended up liking the cute dance moves. Robert and I have been practicing the steps :-)

The Night I Was 16 Again

The last time I saw New Kids On The Block was at a concert in Manila on February 14th of 1992.

I was sixteen years old then. I skipped my junior prom and begged my mom to watch it with me.

I think it is so cool that NKOTB decided to reunite this year. They aged really well (they aren't really that old but I have seen popular child stars let the perks of fame get to them in a really horrible way) and came out with a great new album.

Robert got us tickets to the NKOTB concert here in Omaha. The concert was last night. I was so excited the entire day and kept on asking Rob, "Is it NKOTB yet?"

The concert felt like a big late 80's reunion. Fun!

The concert started on time and I LOST it when they came out. Sixteen years later, I could not believe it.  They opened with "Single" which I thought is their best song on their new album. My behavior was embarrassing.

Here is a little video clip of that song:

I have a couple of more good videos I am having problems uploading to YouTube and Motionbox.

My past experiences with concerts is that I pay a ton of money and I will be lucky if I hear 5 good songs live and end up feeling robbed.

Last night was a different story.  They sang A LOT of the old songs (and stayed faithful to the old sound!) and picked to sing the best songs out of their new CD. They put a lot of thought into it and it was just a pleasure to watch.

Robert, thank you so much for taking me to the best concert ever!  I loved sharing my teenage years with you :-)

To my friends in the Philippines: can we please make a petition for an NKOTB concert in Manila?

Wish She Picked a Better Dress

Michelle Obama is a beautiful and intelligent woman. She has made excellent fashion choices such as this dress by Maria Pinto.

Last night was a different story.

This dress was from Narciso Rodriguez's Spring 2009 collection.

The dress was potentially beautiful but somehow got lost in translation on TV. It looked like big splotches of blood went all over the dress.

Nevertheless, she is still a lovely woman. What did you think of her dress?

From the Eyes of a Third World Voter

Today was a beautiful autumn day. Look at the street of our beautiful suburban neighborhood.
From Voting Day

From the eyes of a third world resident, I do not even know where to walk where I will not fear for my safety.

Robert and my father-in-law walking to the elementary school to vote. It was a breeze to go through the process.
From Voting Day

From the eyes of a third world resident, a trip to the voting booth means I have to go through a chaotic crowd with whispers of buying my vote, look at typewritten lists from room to room and wait in line for 2 hours to sit in a hot, noisy classroom.

From my own eyes, I witness in awe on how it is wonderful to vote and know that the U.S. electoral system has a great degree of integrity.
From Voting Day

From where I am from, I have to pray for my vote to even really count and not for my rights to be stolen away from me.
From Voting Day

Mahal ko ang Pilipinas but my point is -- I really hope you voted today. It is not simply a privilege to do so. It is a responsibility that you should never take for granted. Because I know what it's like to sincerely fulfill my civil duty and not sure if it even matters.

Halloween in Nebraska

Halloween is big here in the United States. Latest statistics show that when it comes to money-making, it has exceeded Christmas.

Robert and I went to Bellevue Berry Farm to pick out 2 perfect-looking pumpkins. Here is what I got.

We don't really celebrate Halloween but we LOVE children and will do anything to make them smile.

We handed out trick or treat candy with our friend Shirlena. Isn't she the cutest with her Cat in the Hat costume?

This is our first set of costumes. A retro jogger and a referree (or a Foot Locker employee as Shirlena joked).

I took some pictures of the kids but our of respect for their privacy, I am not posting them. However, I will give you a glimpse of a properly disguised kid.

Rob and I wanted to go out dancing last night. So for our second set of costumes, we were 80's hiphop group RUN DMC -- well, except we were lacking a third member. But here is what we came up with.

Rob is Reverend Run.
